Steve Irwin would’ve celebrated his 58th birthday on February 22nd, and it’s clear to see that his family miss him every day.

On the day itself, his 21-year-old daughter Bindi Irwin shared an emotional tribute, revealing how she and the family celebrated his memory and we reckon he would’ve been over the moon.

Bindi shared a sweet throwback photo on her Instagram profile of herself and Steve, cradling an echidna and laughing with each other.

“Dad, Today is your birthday,” Bindi began her post before describing how she spent the day.

“I had an extra strong cup of tea just how you liked it. I hugged Mum for you and told her how much we love her. Robert and I went on a hike through the mountains you cherished. I watched one of your documentaries with Chandler and shared stories about you. I walked through your office in the zoo and smiled at our old family photographs.”

“Today and every day I miss you and love you beyond description. You’re always with me,” she finished.

“You’re always with me,” Bindi wrote on Instagram.

Bindi’s fiance Chandler Powell also shared his own message in honour of his late father-in-law-to-be’s birthday by posting a photo of Steve posing beside a croc.

“Thank you for inspiring me and the whole world to love all wildlife. You would be so proud of Bindi, Terri and Robert carrying on the amazing work you started. We will all make sure your message lives on for generations,” he penned.

Steve died in 2006, seven years before Bindi and Chandler met at a chance encounter at Australia Zoo.

Bindi shared a heartbreaking post in the wake of the catastrophic bushfires lamenting how she wished Steve was there at the time.

“Dad spent his life working so hard to protect wildlife and wild places, especially in Australia. I wish he was here right now to give advice and strength during this time of devastation with the bushfires,” she penned.

She added, “I know that his spirit lives on through our conservation work and I hope together we can make him proud.”

Bindi and Chandler are set to tie the knot at Australia Zoo and while Steve won’t be there to give her away, Bindi’s younger brother Robert, 15, will walk her down the aisle with a koala no less!.

“I’m not sure how many people have walked down the aisle with a koala, but we may be setting some new trends for weddings from here on out!” Bindi told Good Morning America.

Chandler added, “I think this wedding is going to be unique because it’s going to be at the zoo with tons of animals.”
