Marcus Stanford apologises for his role in Stephanie Scott murder cover up

I won't cause anymore trouble.

The identical twin brother of murderer Vincent Stanford has been released from prison and returned to South Australia.

On Wednesday Marcus Stanford, 25, apologised for his role in covering up the murder of slain NSW high school teacher Stephanie Scott.

Speaking from a caravan park on Yorke Peninsula, where he reportedly lives with his father, Stanford said sorry to Ms Scott’s family.

“I just want to say sorry for what I’ve done and for the hurt I caused her family,” Stanford told 9NEWS.

“It’s over now and I hope I won’t cause anymore trouble.

“I did a really stupid thing and unfortunately I can’t take it back.”

Marcus Stanford plead guilty to disposing of evidence after his brother Vincent Stanford raped and killed the Leeton High School teacher on Easter Sunday 2015 and he was sentenced to 15 months behind bars on August 23 but released this month on time already served.

Vincent Stanford has confessed to the crime and will be sentenced in October.
