Wheelchair-bound father’s sweet gift for bride

He was determined to walk her down the aisle

How’s this for sweet!

A wheelchair bound father of the bride has surprised and delighted his daughter and her wedding guests by standing up to walk his little girl down the aisle.

Talking to ABC News, Heather Duquette explained her father Ralph Duquette was diagnosed with Lukemia in October 2012, and had to start using a wheelchair after ongoing extensive chemotherapy.

Accepting that her dad’s poor health would likely render him incapable of walking her down the aisle on her wedding day, Heather said “We had talked about it about a year ago but we realised in the condition he was in it just wasn’t going to be possible.

But Ralph had other plans! Since learning of his daughter’s engagement in August 2014, he started working closely with physical therapists to help him regain strength in his legs.

Of the beautiful moment Ralph said, “When she grabbed my hand I sort of felt safe and walked down. It was so amazing, she was so happy. It was something that every father dreams of.”

“It was the biggest day of my life and my father gave me the biggest surprise of my life.”

Way to get us right in the feels.
