Sydney couple awake to find naked stranger in bed with them

The horrified woman managed to get up, wake her still sleeping partner, who got up and immediately challenged the man.

In a bizarre indecent early this morning, a Sydney woman awoke to find a unknown naked home invader beside in her bed.

At 1.45 am today, the woman was sleeping beside her partner in their Maroubra home when she woke to discover a naked man lying beside her.

Somehow, the home invader had forced entry to their home, in Sackville Street, Maroubra, stripped himself naked and slipped into bed beside the couple without waking them.

The horrified woman managed to get up, wake her still sleeping partner, who got up and immediately challenged the man.

The home invader calmly climbed out of bed, picked up his clothes and walked towards the rear of the house.

The woman immediately called police, while her partner tried to confine the man outside in their backyard, however, before police could arrive, the man climbed back into the house through an open window.

The couple barricaded themselves into their bedroom while the man roamed the house until Police arrived and arrested him.

When the officers, from the Eastern Local Area Command, put the man, an Irish national, into the back of their van, he began to convulse.

Police called for paramedics and later escorted the ambulance to Prince of Wales Hospital where he underwent medical and mental health checks.

The 25-year-old man will be interviewed by police when released from hospital.
