News presenter breaks down in tears while reporting on Syrian baby

A BBC news presenter has been moved to tears during a report about Syrian baby pulled from rubble following an air strike in Idlib, Syria.

Veteran reporter Kate Silverton was visibly shaken after she introduced a video package that showed a volunteer with White Helmets crying and nursing a one-month-old infant after she was found covered in blood and dust.

Syrian rescue worker, Abu Kifah’s raw emotions in the video depict the terror and chaos felt every by Syrians who live in the warzone.

Following the story Silverton was seen with tears streaming down her face as she moved on to the next story.

After the broadcast she tweeted about her emotional outpouring:

“To all of you sending thoughts – thank you – no words really – my job to be inscrutable & impartial but I am also human #syria @BBCNews”

The BBC journalist has been commended by viewers for her show of compassion.

The White Helmets were nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize this year and have helped save thousands of lives throughout years of fighting prompted by the Syrian Civil War.
