Baby drugged through breast milk, parents face jail time

The four-month-old's parents have been charged and may now spend up to two years behind bars.

Two television personalities in the US have been thrust back into the limelight for all the wrong reasons, with their four-month-old daughter testing positive for cocaine.

On May 15, Krystin Lisaius, 26, and Somchai Lisaius, 42, rushed their little girl, Mila Rae, to Oro Valley Hospital after noticing her “eyes rolling into the back of her head” and that she was “ragdoll-like” while she was being breast fed.

Despite refusing to allow Mila to undergo a blood test, a urine test and toxicology report revealed that this baby, in fact, had cocaine in her system.

Two days later, police searched the couple’s Tuscan home to discover 1.59g of cocaine, as well as a set of scales, inside their possession.

After initially denying any drug use, Mrs Lisaius confessed to snorting the drug at a party on May 14, believing that if she waited 12 hours to breast feed, her child would not be harmed.

The pair pleaded guilty to endangering their child’s welfare, and now face two years’ imprisonment. They currently have limited access to Mila and will be sentenced on October 3.
