Ben McCormack sentenced for child pornography charges

Former A Current Affair reporter **Ben McComack* has been sentenced … after pleading guilty to child pornography charges.

The veteran Channel 9 journalist faced a maximum of 15 years in jail for his two counts of using a carriage service to transmit, publish or promote child porn.

After McCormack pleaded guilty last month, Mr Macedone said the reporter had been negotiating to get on the same page as police before submitting a plea.

“Ben has always admitted to what he’s done, however the facts weren’t exactly correct,” he said.

“Now that has been sorted out, we’ve entered pleas of guilty and now we’re looking forward to our sentencing date.”

“I just wanted to make it quite clear, that there were never any images that were traded between Ben and anyone else of any child exploitation material,” Mr Macedone said.

“It was nothing more than fantasy talk.”

The veteran journalist was arrested in April when police officers sensationally raided A Current Affair’s Willoughby offices in North Sydney before arresting him.

Several reports suggest detectives seized computers, a mobile phone and electronic storage devices during the raid. McCormack’s unit, located in the suburb of Alexandria, was also searched.
