10 men sentenced to life in prison over Malala Yousafzai’s shooting

10 men who were involved in the shooting of Nobel Peace Prize winner, Malala Yousafzai, have been sentenced to life in jail.

While the gunman responsible for shooting Malala Yousafzai in the head when she was fifteen has not been found and charged, 10 men were given life sentences for their involvement in the shooting.

The 10 men – who were involved in plotting the shooting of the now Nobel Peace Prize winner – were each sentenced to 25 years in prison, by an anti-terrorism court in Pakistan, according to Reuters.

The gunman is believed to have fled across the border to Afghanistan.

Malala Yousafzai was in Ninth grade when she was shot in the head on her way home from school in Swat, Pakistan by the Pakistani Taliban.

The group claimed responsibility for the attack, despising Malala’s work advocating girls’ right to an education.

Malala went on to address the United Nations in 2013 and won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014, becoming the youngest person to ever win the prestigious award.

She now lives in the UK with her family.
