The little boy who has died in a Melbourne house fire

The grandfather risked his own life to try to save Tyler, 4, but could not find him.

A young mum of two little boys is grieving the loss of her eldest four-year-old after he perished in a house fire.

A tragic Go Fund Me page has outlined the details of the lethal house fire in Dandenong which took little Tyler Thomas’s life.

“Fire started by an electric fault. Young mother of two wakes up at 8am to hear her youngest son aged one screaming, burnt and in tears. She picks her son up and gets him out of the room while her brother rushes to take him downstairs.

“Everyone in the house is woken up and accounted for except her oldest son, Tyler, aged 4. Everyone is searching for him in the house and screaming out his name, but there was no answer.

“The mother’s bedroom where the fire began is where 4 year old Tyler was found hiding in the corner next to the window.

Grandfather of the boys rushed in to look for Tyler under the bed and everywhere else but was losing air himself because of so much smoke.”

According to news reports, the deceased boy’s mother, grandmother, uncle and family friends were in the property at the time of the fire. Tyler’s baby brother was taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The fire is believed to have started on the top floor of the townhouse. Five fire trucks were needed to control the blaze.

A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help the young mum pay for the funeral.
