The sheer power of retired football player Wendell Sailor’s enormous biceps is all we can talk about today as the sports star went head-to-head with league player Ben Ross in a friendly arm wrestle match on live during the NRL Footy Show on Thursday evening.

It all started off as a bit of fun, but things went south after Wendell quite literally popped Ben Ross’ arm out of place.

Cringe-worthy, painful and seriously scary doesn’t even begin to describe the second an audible pop can be heard as Ben’s arm is broken.

The 35-year-old is clearly in agony as the show quickly cuts to a long ad break. Upon return, the show’s hosts explained that Ben had been taken to hospital for professional care.

Last night the Footy Show tweeted, “An X-ray on Ben has confirmed a broken humerus, Ben has been in remarkably good spirits all night and is already asking for a left handed rematch.

They added: “An @NRLFootyShow producer stayed with Ben in the ambulance and at hospital until his wife arrived.”

Wendell Sailor clearly felt pretty bad that he didn’t even know his own strength and took to twitter to pass on his apologies, “Just like to send some love/well wishes out to @benross23 & his family after the accident on the @NRLFootyShow – sorry Big Ben feel so bad,” he wrote.

In a sign of good sportsmanship, Ben Ross responded: “Wasn’t anyone’s fault mate. @NRLFootyShow were amazing with their help and care last night.” Before adding: “thanks for everyone’s messages of concern and also wishes. Will know full extent of the break etc soon.”

During an appearance on Sunrise this morning Wendell continued to express his regret saying, “I felt so bad … it was terrible. I know he’s got a 3-year-old daughter.”
