Mel Waring left devastated as Nathan Lyon’s girlfriend Emma McCarthy tries on wedding dresses

Wearing a figure-hugging $10,000 wedding gown and a killer smile, cricketer Nathan Lyon’s girlfriend Emma McCarthy looks like the cat that got the cream in photos sure to break Mel Waring’s heart all over again.

Mel, 31, is the mum of Nathan’s two young children, whose relationship ended so publicly less than two years ago when photographs emerged of the Test bowler kissing blonde bombshell Emma in his car.

“Emma posted shots of herself in a wedding gown on social media for all to see – including Nathan’s ex Mel, who must’ve been absolutely gutted,” says one family friend, who says Mel is busy relocating their daughters Harper, five, and Milla, four, after being forced to sell the family home.

“Nathan never married Mel despite 10 years together and having two little girls. But Emma is so desperate to walk down the aisle, she probably already has her perfect wedding planned in her head!”

Glamorous Perth real estate agent Emma, 28, last week skipped a day of the Ashes series to try $400,000 worth of designer wedding frocks with Aussie captain Tim Paine’s wife Bonnie and batsman Marcus Harris’ girlfriend Cat McAteer.

“They gatecrashed a wedding dress photo shoot for Vogue magazine with the luxury label Pallas Couture,” reveals one cricket insider, explaining that Emma organised the champagne-fuelled afternoon.

Since Nathan’s affair with Emma was made public with the release of those kissing photos – which Mel said was like a “bomb” going off in her life – Emma has split the WAGS in two.

“I don’t think it’s surprising that after spending 10 years with Nathan, Mel built some very strong friendships with some of the other WAGs, who still support and love her,” explains our cricket insider.

“I know they still find it hard to stomach Emma.”
