Zoë Foster Blake’s family life seems perfect and whilst it’s filled with belly laughs and magnificent cakes, she’s always keeping it real.

The former beauty editor became a mum for the first time when she and husband Hamish Blake welcomed son, Sonny Donald, in 2014, and then in 2017, daughter Rudy Hazel.

Over the years, Zoë has taken her fans and followers on her journey from pregnancy to childbirth and parenthood with her excellent sense of humour and thoughtful perspectives.

Whether she’s sharing a hilarious phallic like drawing done by Rudy or setting up a DIY hair salon during lockdown, Zoë is always bringing the laughs on social media.

We’re still obsessed with her genius breakfast hack of “Party Porridge” – the beauty queen explained she added food colouring and sprinkles to the normally bland-looking dish to create a bright and fun treat that her kids couldn’t get enough of.

“I’m not the mum who makes fun, inventive food for the kids. I make pasta and cheese sandwiches and pasta and omelettes and pasta. We get by. They’re fed. It’s fine,” Zoë wrote alongside the image.

“But yesterday, noticing a critical lack of flour for our usual Pancake Sunday, I made something I told them was Party Porridge (oats, milk, few drops of food colouring, coconut, Greek yoghurt, honey and sprinkles) which raised delight levels exponentially and finally made me feel like the kind of kooky kitchen witch they could be proud of.”

We have already loved Hamish Blake’s chaotic parenting moments; so here is Zoë’s fabulous counterpart, which is just as loveable.

While celebrating Sonny’s 8th birthday, Zoë pondered whether he was growing up from “Kid to Big Kid.”

Besides an adorable throwback of him as a baby, she penned called “Dossier of an eight-year-old” to prepare herself for the new era in his life.

“Favourite show: LEGO Masters (or kicked out of family), Avatar, The Last Airbender, Grizzy and the Lemmings. Superpower: being patient with adoring younger sister, uneaten lunchbox food excuse-making,” she began.

“Best possible dinner: margarita pizza followed by chocolate ice cream. Worst possible dinner: margarita with BASIL, followed by a Snickers. Latest Thing: doing standup comedy (with hefty Jim Gaffigan plagiarism.)

“Cutest Thing: bringing home peach coloured shells and flowers he finds for me. Awkwardest Thing: making me pay for them. (JK JK.) Pet Peeve: mispronunciation of Greek Gods and Goddesses, or dinosaurs. (Huehuecanauhtlus: WAY-way-can-OUT-luss.)

“Favourite podcasts: Greeking Out, Live from Mount Olympus. Favourite sport: AFL. Favourite dad: @hamishblakeshotz, Bandit Heeler. Biggest fan: ME. 💘,” she sweetly concluded.

Zoë posted this throwback from when she was pregnant with Sonny and she reflected on the chaos of becoming a new mum.

“I did NOT think at all about what life with a newborn would be like, (overwhelmed pram buying aside) or breastfeeding, or any of that. Just. The. Birth. Perhaps I’m a dingus (Narrator: she was) but it’s very hard to imagine life as a parent until you are one,” she wrote.

This Beyoncé inspired photoshoot was every part glamorous and hilarious.

“When @beyonce and I fell pregnant at the exact same time, we were so happy. We made a best friend pact to announce the news with high-concept, oversaturated floral imagery and mismatched lingerie on the SECOND of February,” she shared her inspiration behind the recreated photoshoot.

Zoë is an avid reader, and like many parents helped organise her sons Book Day costume by hand. In her caption alongside this picture, she mused about Sonny’s love of facts.

“My son is only interested in ‘fact books’ now, so he insisted he was going as his favourite facts book, which meant I got to do a bunch of Googling on tiny dogs and giant pizzas last night. (Yes. He went as a literal book. Don’t overthink it.),” she said.

While reflecting on his adorable picture with her babies, she wrote a passage about mums and all the hard work they do.

“To all The Mums, new or old, swimming or struggling, impending or in mourning, gone or here, drunk or sober, double or single, bored or inspired, hungry or tired: I salute you! You are doing your best! We’re all in this together!

“I’m sending you a wink and uncouth wine clink. Happy mother’s day, your mumber one fan x,” she penned.

Zoë wrote about how much she loves birth stories and why it takes a village on her post of this hospital snap.

“I’m a huge perv when it comes to birth stories, and a desperate fiend for recommendations, (especially when it comes to birth/breastfeeding stuff because I forget/am nosy/have no clue/time so I just need Internet Friend Advice from people who’ve been there),” she wrote.

After posting this family snap, Zoë was compelled to dispel any ideas they have a perfect life, and her admission was super on point for parents everywhere.

“Just cos we can’t get The Shot™️ doesn’t mean we can’t wish you a joyful and harmonious festive season, and zing out all the hope and optimism for the new year we can muster. (Oh, 2021. I’m so sorry. The pressure!! But also, don’t worry. The bar is set so low it’s subterranean. You can do this!!),” she admitted.

Travelling with a baby is no joke and Zoë put it best when she wrote, “Some say traveling with an infant is lunacy, but in my experience it’s a YES! And a vital rut breaker. Before we went to NZ/Sydney, I spent all day between my loungeroom and the baby’s room, trying to get her to sleep/resettle for 150% of the day, and I rarely left the house, because I’d decided she didn’t like the pram or the car, because she cried in them. Forgetting that for the first 12 weeks, babies cry ALWAYS, at EVERYTHING, including KISSES.”

To celebrate Sonny’s 6th birthday, the skincare mogul dedicated a lengthy message for her husband and his hard work to create his marvellous cakes.

“My little boy turned six today, and my husband once again triumphed in his kid-throws-up-an-idea-for-a-cake-and-he-makes-it-the-night-before-no-matter-how-ambitious, game. (It’s the cave of wonders from Aladdin.

“It was extraordinary. There was a lot of LEGO, tequila and sticky tape involved. He was up til 2:30 getting the nose right. I am so impressed.) Tbh the best mother’s day gift was not having to host a party. On that: Happy Mother’s Day, mums!

“You’re terrific, you know that? I’m your biggest fan. Don’t make me come over there and hug you. I’ll get into trouble with the coppers,” she gushed.

“PS How ’70s and gorgeous are the eggs on the second slide? More of that, please egg maker-er-ers.”
