Mum posts pics of her caesarean to reassure other mums

She hopes that the photos will show other mums-to-be that the procedure can be a positive experience.

It was to be 28 year old Veronika Bogumsk third C-section and this time she was determined to have a positive experience.

Having had a problematic virginal birth and two emergency Caesareans Bogumsk wanted the arrival of her fourth child to be different.

Bogumsk took to the internet to research ways to have a calm C-section. She then requested dimmed lights, delayed cord clamping and immediate skin to skin contact. She asked the hospital to allow her and her partner David to discover the sex of the baby themselves.

Staff at Tameside Hospital in Lancashire were more than happy to follow the requests in Bogumsk’s birth plan.

The birth was everything that Bogumsk hoped. “It felt so much more natural and baby was so much more relaxed. She didn’t even cry for the first half an hour when she was lay on me. She was so content and quiet.

“Overall this usually traumatic experience was made a very beautiful and special for me and for baby. It was truly amazing and so chilled,” she told The Sun.

Baby Lyra was born to the tune of Jimi Hendrix;s ‘Hey Joe’, providing the couple with the baby’s middle name – Josephine.

Bogumsk decided to share some photos from her gentle C-section to reassure other mothers that the procedure can be a very positive experience.

A spokesman for Tameside Hospital NHS Foundation Trust told the Sun that the hospital always tries to accommodate the wishes of the parents to be. “Giving birth is a fantastic experience, but can also be a little daunting, especially for first time parents.

“By making the environment as calm and relaxed as possible, it helps to make the experience really positive for mum, baby and family,” the spokesperson said.

“We are delighted that Veronika had a good experience with the birth of baby Lyra and we appreciate her very positive feedback”.
