A new tell-all is airing all of Keith Urban‘s dirty laundry. Former friend and collaborator Vernon Rust self-published his memoir, exposing the Australian singer’s marriage to Nicole Kidman along with surprising details about his cocaine addiction.

Rust, who co-wrote most of the songs for Keith’s former band The Ranch, revealed in his new book Fake News that Keith’s drug problem was worse than anyone knows.

“We lived in the studio,” said the author, claiming they spent $250,000 on cocaine when he made an album with Keith more than a decade ago.

“We did a lot of coke, and stayed up for days,” he writes.

“We were so reliably awesome in music, that the drugs weren’t only tolerated, but encouraged.” He goes on to call the former American Idol judge, “self-absorbed” with “vindictive, infantile, selfish, grandiose obsessions.” Yikes.

In Keith’s defense, the “Blue Ain’t Your Color” singer has always been very open about his struggles with addiction.

“It was a turning point. After that, s — t started to really go awry. I stepped up my drinking. I started doing more drugs,” he told Rolling Stone.

“Yeah, man. The whole back end of the ’90s were just awful.”

He goes on to credit his wife Nicole for saving him. “I caused the implosion of my fresh marriage. It survived, but it’s a miracle it did,” he said.

“I was spiritually awoken with her. I use the expression ‘I was born into her,’ and that’s how I feel. And for the first time in my life, I could shake off the shackles of addiction.”

As for the Hollywood couple’s marriage, Rust claims in the tell-all that it’s all a sham, and they would “attend a’pond draining if a red carpet and a photographer were gonna show up.” Ouch.
