As our appetite for cruising keeps growing, cruise liners are positioning more ships Down Under to fulfil the demand for cruises and new itineraries, giving us a greater choice of ships and trips from our own doorsteps.
In the next summer season P&O Cruises will have five ships cruising out of every state – the freshly refurbished Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden join the fleet in November.
Princess Cruises will have five ships cruising from Sydney, Melbourne and Freemantle.
And, Royal Caribbean International will have three ships sailing from Sydney and one from Brisbane.
So, here’s a taster of cruises from each port.
Cruises from Sydney

The Pacific Pearl will set sail on November 23, 2015 from Sydney Harbour on a three night round-trip cruise.
Guests will enjoy on-board meals, on-board exclusives and entertainment each night, before sailing into Sydney Harbour with the P&O fleet on November 25 for a fireworks display.

Sydney Harbour’s Overseas Passenger Terminal and White Bay Cruise Terminal will also host Carnival Legend, Carnival Spirit and Pacific Jewel cruises on trips that range from two to 12-nights.
Itineraries include round trips to Papua New Guinea.
Cruises from Melbourne
The 2074-passenger Legend of the Seas arrives in December 2015 for a five-month season – the first Royal Caribbean ship to be based in the port – and will cruise to various ports in Queensland and the Pacific Islands.
P&O Cruises’ newly acquired 1500-passenger Pacific Aria will said 21 itineraries from November before repositioning to Sydney in April 2016, then returning to Brisbane in June.
Sea Princess and Pacific Dawn operate cruises to New Zealand, the Pacific Islands and Australian coast year-round. Sea Princess is doing a 10-day cruise to PNG on November 24, 2015.
Cruises from Fremantle
Dawn Princess, Sea Princess and Sun Princess offer several cruises to PNG and Indonesia as well as four-night round-trips to Albany and Margaret River.
CMV Astor is returning to Fremantle in December to operate a series of cruises.
Cruises from Adelaide
Pacific Eden, one of P&O cruises’ two new additions to its fleet will operate five short cruises between March and April 2015, including a three-night comedy cruise.
Cruises to Port Lincoln are also on the menu – great for seafood lovers and adventurous types who fancy cage-diving with sharks.
