When The Block’s site managers Nine in Six step in to “help” Courtney and Sev by removing misaligned tiles from their Guest Ensuite while the pair are off site for a challenge, the Queensland best friends are left feeling that a line has been crossed.

“It was a design issue,” construction site manager Courtney, 34, tells TV WEEK. “They should have called us and consulted with us before stepping in. By trying to avoid one defect, they created another one.”

For the girls, the biggest issue was that the tiles were never affecting the room’s functionality, making Nine in Six’s decision to step in feel “weird”.

As an apology, Nine in Six offer to rectify the mistake. But could that gesture lead the other teams to, once again, accuse the girls of receiving special treatment?

“Anyone that looks at it as a handout needs to know it wasn’t something that Courtney and I wanted,” says interior designer Sev, 37. “This is our Block; we’re making the design decisions.

“For them to make that call on our behalf just didn’t sit right.”

The Block airs Monday to Wednesday at 7.30pm and Sunday at 7pm on Nine Network and 9Now.
