Happily (almost) ever after!

If there’s one thing we know about the relationships on Married At First Sight, it’s that the marriages tend not to work out.

In fact, just two couples from the series’ sixth season run are still together.

But over the years, there have been several promising matches who seemed like they might just make it in this crazy world.

We take a look back at some of the MAFS couples we thought would go the distance.

Erin & Bryce: Still going strong!

Season two favourites Erin Bateman and Bryce Mohr are the longest-running MAFS couple left standing after “marrying” each other.

Despite keeping quiet on social media, they’ve revealed plans to tie the knot in real life and start a family.

“When the time is right, we definitely want kids,” Erin said.

Carly & Troy

Troy Delmege and Carly Bowyer were the couple we never saw coming, after they ditched their respective partners and arrived hand-in-hand at the final dinner party.

However, after nine months, it was all over.

“We’ve had to make the incredibly difficult decision that our lives no longer align and we are unable to make this work,” Carly said.

Zoe & Alex

Despite breaking up, the couple share daughter Harper-Rose.

They had planned to say “I do” for real following the birth of their little girl Harper-Rose in 2016. But three years on from their series, Zoe Hendrix and Alex Garner announced they’d split in April last year.

Zoe later claimed Alex was the one who walked away from their relationship.

“I didn’t choose this path. I never bought a ticket. I never thought that the man I love so much would one day walk away. But he did,” she penned in an emotional Instagram post.

Sharon & Nick

After six months of a long-distance relationship, Sharon Marsh made the move from Perth to Melbourne to be with Nick Furphy – only for the pair to call it quits just eight weeks later.

“I soon realised I’m not in love with him,” Sharon said. “I’ve shed many tears over this, because I really wanted it to work.”

Nick Furphy went on to date season six’s Jessika Power, but the two called it quits after just under two months of dating.

Alene & Simon

“Besides the distance, there was a huge difference in our goals.”

They were the darlings of season four, but on-and-off couple Simon McQuillan and Alene Khatcherian ultimately couldn’t make it work, splitting in late 2017.

“Besides the distance, there was a huge difference in our goals,” Alene said at the time.

Sarah & Telv

The season five sweethearts weren’t so sweet in the end.

Sarah Roza and Telv Williams’ relationship quickly turned sour after their split in March last year.

Things came to a head months later when the pair appeared in court after each taking out an Apprehended Violence Order, which prevented them from speaking publicly about one another.

Cam & Jules: Officially married!

Love prevails!

When Cam Merchant and Jules Robinson met at the altar, it was love at first sight. And their love just kept on growing!

The couple were the poster children for the experiment and despite a few hiccups, the season ended with Cam proposing to Jules.

In front of friends, family and a sprinkling of former MAFS contestants, Cam and Jules tied the knot as actual husband and wife in a Current Affair TV special. Fingers crossed they stay together!

Michael & Martha: Still going strong!

The dark horses of season six are still a couple.

Cam and Jules tend to take up much of the MAFS spotlight, but fellow contestants Martha Kalifatidis and Michael Brunelli have been flying under the radar together since their finale.

The former makeup artist and primary school teacher are still going strong and in an exclusive chat with Now To Love, Martha gushed about her man.

“I didn’t think it was possible for somebody to accept me for who I am. But he does,” Martha said.
