She might believe herself to be a “daggy” mum but netball legend Liz Ellis is a winner in everyone’s eyes after being crowned the queen of the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia jungle.

But after all the terrifying challenges, Liz cannot wait to spend some quality time with her family and definitely not rewatching her time in jungle.

“My kids couldn’t quite believe it, I’m a daggy mum and I won,” she told TV Week.

“I don’t think I’ll watch [the season] back straight away, I need some time with my family and just to kickback. I just want to see all the trials because everybody comes back and sees the results of what they did.”

“We’ve [her family] got a couple of days left in South Africa so we are going to do some safari drives and have a look around and I’m going to sleep in a nice comfy bed and have nice long hot showers and eat all the food I want and then we’ll come home.”

Liz almost didn’t compete on the show after telling herself that, “I don’t do reality TV”. But after persisting ringing from the network and a little push from her daughter Evelyn after Liz ‘mistakenly’ watched a highlights reel with her, Liz signed up.

Entering the jungle as a complete newbie to the reality series trials and tricks, Liz came in slightly underprepared but determined to face her “fears.”

“I had watched bits and pieces of it but I’m glad I wasn’t too familiar with the show because there was still some pretty interesting surprises,” she said.

“Anything that involved heights I was always up for, so I was really grateful that I was able to do that cliff-hanger trial terrifying as it was because I was able to climb up and really face my fears, loved that.”

Liz even reveals she was open to a trial with snakes! Maybe she hasn’t watched the snippet where Nick ‘Honey Badger’ Cummins gets bitten… that would change her mind.

She told TV Week: “The food trials, they were hideous, but they were fun! There was lots of giggles and lots of moments where I thought this is the worst thing I’ve ever done but it was still good to get through them and prove to myself that I could make myself do that sort of stuff.”

But most of all, Liz is most excited to rewatch all the best times shared with her co-stars.

“I also want to go back and see the funny stuff that happened and how much we laughed and cried and I think it’ll be good fun to go back and watch.”
