Despite Channel 7 confirming that Dancing with the Stars would be making a return to the network in 2023, it seems like the embattled reality program is already in dire straits.
The 2023 series will be the second iteration of the show on the network, originally airing from 2004 – 2015 before losing broadcasting rights to Network 10 from 2019 – 2020.
And now, following more than two years of pandemic induced delays, the series will return for what is set to be a dazzling series, stacked with celebrity talent who will be getting jiggy with it for the judges and for millions of Aussies watching on from home.
Sam and Chris will NOT be putting their dancing shoes on this season.
(IMAGE: Instagram)According to insider sources who spoke with the Daily Telegraph, the show is reportedly struggling to cast celebrities to take part, with many contracted talent to the television station already confirming that they are ruling themselves out to appear on the show.
Dr Chris Brown, who recently jumped ship from Channel 10, will be wrapping up in Africa for his co-hosting role on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here whilst former Sunrise star Sam Armytage is also a firm no after being promoted to the helm of Farmer Wants a Wife at the expense of long time anchor Natalie Gruzlewski.
Sam originally appeared on the 2011 series of the show, making it to week nine much to viewers (and her own) surprise, following consistently low scores and criticism from judge Todd McKenney.
Matt will not be putting on his dancing shoes anytime soon.

With production less than two months away, something tells us that Channel 7 will continue to keep mum about our celebrity cast.
It is worth noting that the series is not an all-star series, unlike the previous two iterations of the show.
Sonia and Daryl are tipped to return as co hosts.

Former hosts Sonia Kruger and Daryl Somers may also return to the fold, but only time will tell at this stage!
