She was the Farmer Wants a Wife star who was left blindsided when her farmer quit the show to remain solo, but now one 2024 contestant is sharing her own happy news.
Karli Hinkley was favoured to win the heart of Farmer Bert in the 14th season of the hit Channel Seven reality series, before the pineapple farmer decided to leave the dating experiment behind.
Now, Karli is engaged to be married to Mitchell Gorman – the Senior Agronomist she met and fell for while the drama of Farmer was still playing out on TV screens.
When Karli and Mitchell first got together, they were forced to keep their fledgling romance secret so as not to spoil the ending of the series for avid fans.
“The show wrapped in December… and Karli was actually done with filming in November. She has had plenty of time to put the show behind her,” a friend told Yahoo at the time.
“The final edit has been quite cringeworthy at times but with her heart and mind elsewhere Karli has been happy to laugh it off and play along with Channel Seven.”
Two years on, Karli shared the happy news of her engagement in a sweet Instagram post on August 23.
“It was always you ♥️ and now it’s forever,” she captioned a selfie of her and Mitchell, where she held up a hand adorned with a glistening diamond.
“I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you. I love you @mitchgormo4 always and forever.”
Fans were equally thrilled to discover Karli and Mitchell are set to become parents too, with “Baby Gorman” due in December.
Karli may have found her happily ever after, but what of Bert – who made a candid admission after he decided to leave the show?
“’Right time, right place, right person’, I say that a few times in the show, and for me, I don’t see the point of being in a relationship if you’re not fully committed,” he told Refinery29 after quitting.
“You’re just wasting each other’s time and it’s not very respectful.”
“If the person is right, I’m 100 per cent in,” he added.
A look at Bert’s instagram page today suggests he is still working on his family farm, advocating for farmers and enjoying the odd boys’ trip away.
