Carrie Bickmore slams shock jock Steve Price on The Project over breastfeeding comments

Here’s a good lesson: never, ever tell a woman that she shouldn’t breast feed in public, seriously.

If you weren’t already in love with Carrie Bickmore then this moment will be sure to seal the deal! On Wednesday evening, the mother-of-two absolutely schooled Steve Price about being uncomfortable with public breastfeeding.

Shock Jock Steve took to twitter on Tuesday and wrote: “Discreet public breast feeding no drama but walking through Qantas domestic !!”

He later appeared on The Project to defend his tweet, a move which proved to be an embarrassing one for the dad-of-two.

The Gold Logie-winner was riled when she asked The Project regular, “Seriously, why?”

Adding, “You clearly think it [breastfeeding] should be done in a private room away from you, and just for your information, we feed where we want to not where you want us to.”

We adore that Carrie called Steve out on his outdated views.

Unfortunately Steve lived up to his shock jock status and denied his comments were offensive.

The tweet that sparked the outrage.

The 2GB radio host attempted to explain that “all she needed to do was sit down.”

“I think walking through a crowded airport is an unusual place to breastfeed a child.”

“If my wife and I got off a plane – and we have two daughters, she breastfed both of them – and Wendy said to me ‘I think I might breastfeed Lucy while we walk to the car,’ I would say ‘are you insane? Sit down and do it properly.’”

Unfortunately for Steve, Carrie was ready, firing back, “Why do women have to do it discreetly, what is your issue with it?”

Steve attempted to justify his tweet and down play his comments, saying that his wife had breastfed their two daughters and that he had no problem with the act itself.

“In fact three weeks ago in a production meeting at The Project you were breastfeeding your gorgeous little baby daughter,” Steve said, “So if I had a problem I might have said something.”

Carrie, who welcomed her second child Evie, with partner Chris Walker earlier this year, quickly countered, “Absolutely but you used the words discreet public breastfeeding okay, which means you clearly think it should be done privately in a room away from you.”

“And just for your information, we feed where we want to, not where you want us to.”

Carrie is the proud mum of two, Ollie, seven and little Evie.

Rather than apologising for any offence Steve decided to call out his online-shamers as “feral.”

Before adding of the infamous airport incident: “For God’s sake, I didn’t even speak to this woman, I didn’t name her, I have no idea who she was and she had no idea I had even seen her. These people are just feral and they’re stupid. I mean, since when do breastfeeding mothers, are they a no-go zone?”

“I can comment on what I like, when I like, and people can just go and jam it as far as I’m concerned,” he said defiantly.

Carrie ended the heated segment by joking: “I look forward to sitting on your lap in the meeting … and doing it!”

Normalising breastfeeding in public has been an ongoing issue within Australia.

“Breast Feeding your baby is a normal and natural thing to do… in our society however, although breastfeeding is acknowledged as important for mothers and babies, some people make critical remarks or confront mothers with unnecessary and illegal ‘rules,'” the Australian Breastfeeding Association shared in a statement.

All hail Carrie Bickmore! What a legend.
