Within seconds of the first episode of Netflix’s docuseries Harry & Meghan we saw a black screen with white text written across.

“Members of the Royal Family declined to comment on the content within this series,” was the broadcasted statement.

But royal aides have already refuted this comment, with sources at both Buckingham and Kensington Palaces saying there was no opportunity to respond as revealed by London Evening Standard royal editor Robert Jobson.

Since the announcement of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Netflix docuseries the British royal family had been preparing for the fallout.

Volume one of the Harry & Meghan docuseries – which consists of three episodes – is now available for the world to stream on Netflix and it doesn’t paint the royal family in a very good light.

The six-part series was marketed as an intimate retelling of Harry and Meghan’s early courtship, but the two trailers released over the past week also teased that the docuseries will explore a darker side to royalty, and they delivered on that promise in the first three episodes released last night.

Given that the monarchy was a main subject of the docuseries, it would only make sense that senior members of the royal family was able to view the content in advance and if they wish, give a response to any allegations.

However, they may not have chosen to give a response even if they had seen the footage in advance, as insiders added that for now neither the King nor any member of the Royal Family would be making any official comment on the series.

There was a large amount of negative commentary in relation to the royals in the first three docuseries episodes, but King Charles and the family could very well be waiting until we see all six parts – the final three episodes are dropping next Thursday 15th – before they come forward to defend themselves and the monarchy.
