Prince Louis is rumoured to be taking part in a royal Christmas tradition for the very first time, joining his extended family for their annual Christmas day walk to church in Sandringham.

The four-year-old captivated royal watchers worldwide with his hilarious antics at his great grandmother’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in June and now, fans are in for a delight again as Louis brings his childish energy to an otherwise traditional occasion.

Speaking on the predicted attendance of Louis at the church walkabout, Hello Magazine’s Royal Editor, Emily Nash said it would come as no surprise.

”Prince Louis is now the same age is sister Princess Charlotte was when she did her first Christmas Day walkabout after church on Christmas Day, so royal fans will be hoping to catch a glimpse of him with his siblings and parents this year after he nearly stole the show during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.”

This Christmas will be the first without the head of the family, and the former head of the Commonwealth, Queen Elizabeth, who passed away peacefully in September at the age of 96.

”It will be extremely sad not to have the queen there,” a source told US Weekly earlier this month, adding that the festivities will feel ”bittersweet” in Her Majesty’s absence.

”[She] would not want them to mope or let that detract everyone from coming together and enjoying the occasion.”

Buckingham Palace confirmed not long after that her eldest son (and newly minted monarch) King Charles would spend the festive season at Sandringham, like his late mother.

”Their Majesties The King and The Queen Consort [Camilla] accompanied by Members of the Royal Family will attend the Morning Service on Christmas Day at Sandringham Church on Sunday 25th December 2022,” an official announcement from Buckingham Palace said.

In the more than 30 years since the royal tradition was first established in 1988 when Windsor Castle was being renovated, children have only attended the church service when they were of appropriate age.

For context, Prince William was aged five and Prince Harry was aged seven when they first went.

In comparison however, Prince William and wife Kate, took Princess Charlotte, now 7, along when she was just a toddler.

Another interesting addition to this year’s royal festive fun will be Sarah ‘Fergie’ Ferguson who has received her first invitation to Sandringham in more than 30 years following her split from disgraced ex-husband Prince Andrew.

It is understood that Andrew, along with their daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie will also be in attendance.
