Princess Beatrice and fiancée Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have made royal history after making a rather unlikely choice in best man for their upcoming wedding.

It was confirmed over the weekend that the pair, who will marry in May, have chosen Edoardo’s three-year-old son Christopher, also known as Wolfie to take the honours.

A spokesperson for the couple first confirmed the news to the Daily Mail, citing that the pair wanted the three-year-old to know how important he was to his stepmother.

Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have chosen a very sweet best man for their upcoming nuptials.

The sweet new update comes after the Palace confirmed more details around the upcoming nuptials in May.

Taking place on May 29, the pair will wed at the The Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace in London.

The ceremony itself is expected to be slightly more low key than other royal weddings in years gone by.

This isn’t unexpected from the pair, who started dating in 2018. They have kept their relationship largely under the radar, with details around Edo’s son Wolfie also scarce.

The pair will marry on May 29, 2020.

That said, we’re sure we’ll see the new family in all their greatest glory come May 29, especially given Wolfie’s pivotal role.

The ceremony at St James’ will be followed by a private reception hosted by the Queen in the gardens of Buckingham Palace.

They have asked well wishers to not give them gifts, instead choosing to highlight the work of charities Big Change and Cricket Brings Hope.

Big Change works with young people to help them create impact, while Cricket Brings Hope works to bring about positive change in Rwanda.

Edo and Beatrice got engaged in September 2019 after the property developer proposed while they holidayed in Italy.

The pair spoke about their exciting news in a statement, saying: “We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to actually be married.”

They continued: “We share so many similar interests and values, and we know that this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness.”
