Why Duchess Catherine is skipping the annual Middleton holiday to Mustique

Sometimes being a royal isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
Prince William and Duchess Catherine

Every year without fail, the Middleton clan jet to the stunning island of Mustique in the Caribbean.

It’s a chance for one of the world’s most famous families to escape the spotlight and spend some quality time together.

The secluded destination, which has a no-fly zone, has become a Middleton tradition. Late last month, Carole and Michael were spotted arriving to the private island.

The annual break also coincides with Carole’s 61st birthday. However, this year Prince William and Duchess Catherine were absent from the getaway.

Carole and Michael Middleton arrived to the island last week, however there was no sign of Prince William and Duchess Catherine.

Indeed, with two young children to look after and the fact their oldest child, Prince George, has just started nursery school it’s clear Wills and Kate don’t want to disrupt their little ones’ schedules.

Family holidays with Carole, Michael and Catherine’s beloved siblings James and Pippa may be few and far between over the coming years as the Duchess becomes even more immersed in royal duties.
