The Cast Of The Mummy From 1999: Where Are They Now?

What happened to the actors, including Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, from the 1999 movie The Mummy?
The Mummy 1999

The Mummy may have returned to the big screen with an extra dose of Tom Cruise, but if we’re honest, The Mummy from 1999, with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, is where it’s at.

Sure, the special effects were a liiiittle questionable. But back in 1999, they were the bomb

And look, this movie was pretty great, and still stands today, even though it’s not the OG one (that came out in 1932). So in honour of the new The Mummy being out, we’re checking in to see what’s up with the cast from the 1999 flick is up to now…

Brendan Fraser AKA Rick O’Connell

Rick is probably one of our favourite action movie badasses. The last time Brendan played Rick was in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008. He was also in Journey to the Centre of the Earth and the TV drama The Affair.

Rachel Weisz AKA Evie Carnahan

Let’s be real: The Mummy pretty much launched Rachel’s career, but she dropped out of the series after the second movie (replaced by Maria Bello), in which she kicked some serious mummy butt. Rachel is now an Oscar-winning actress who’s married to James Bond In Real Life (Daniel Craig), and she’s currently promoting her new film My Cousin Rachel.

John Hannah AKA Jonathan Carnahan

Evie’s brother Jonathan caused a bit of trouble in the movies, but he also had some redeeming qualities. IRL, John’s CV is packed with film and TV roles, including Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Arnold Vosloo AKA Imhotep/The Mummy

Whenever we think of the human version of a mummy, we think of Imhotep — and he wasn’t even a pharaoh.. The actor who played him, Arnold, has been in heaps of other things you’ve seen, like Agent Cody Banks, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and the TV show Grimm.

Oded Fehr AKA Ardeth Bay

To be honest, we never knew what this character’s name was in The Mummy, but he was definitely a day-saver. Did you know he played Jafar in Once Upon a Time?

Patricia Velásquez AKA Anck-Su-Namun

Anck-Su-Namun was sexy and fierce in The Mummy. The actress who played her, Patricia Velásquez, has had a few acting roles since then, but she also made history at the world’s first openly lesbian Latina supermodel (fun fact).

Freddie Boath AKA Alex O’Connell

OK, we know this is cheating a bit, as Alex, Rick and Evie’s son, appears for the first time in the sequel The Mummy Returns. But we love seeing what child stars look like when they grow up, and this is what Freddie, who’s 26, looks like now. He hasn’t been in anything since the TV series House of Anubis in 2013.
