Hollywood actress joins the cast of the Neighbours revival

Mischa Barton, best known for playing Marissa Cooper in iconic 00s series The OC, is set to join the cast of the Neighbours revival.

Amazon confirmed that Mischa will play Reece, an American who’s new to Ramsey Street.

”I’m excited to be part of this iconic show’s next chapter, and I am really looking forward to being back in Australia, a place I know and love,” Mischa said of the somewhat surprising news.

”I think the character of Reece is going to be a great role for me to explore and play with.”

Neighbours’ executive producer, Jason Herbison, shed more light on why Mischa was approached to join the Aussie soap; and it’s because the revival will be available to watch in the US as well as in Australia and the UK.

”With Neighbours launching on Amazon Freevee in North America, we are beyond excited to have an actor of Mischa’s calibre join us for the beginning of this exciting new chapter,” Jason said.

”Mischa’s character is dynamic and unpredictable, and will have an instant presence on Ramsay Street. Our loyal viewers are going to love her, locally and abroad,” he continued.

Production has already begun on the Neighbours revival in Melbourne and it’s set to air on Channel Ten and Prime Video Australia later this year.

The show will also be available to stream for free on Amazon Freevee in both the US and the UK.

Mischa joins multiple Australian actors who will reprise their Neighbours’ roles in the revival.

For example, Stefan Dennis (who plays Paul Robinson), Alan Fletcher (who plays Dr Karl Kennedy), Ryan Moloney (who plays Jarrod ‘Toadfish’ Rebecchi), Jackie Woodburne (who plays Susan Kennedy) and Ian Smith (who plays Harold Bishop) are all set to return to Ramsey Street.

Neighbours premieres Monday, September 18 At 4:30pm on 10 And 10 Play, and 6:30pm on 10 Peach.

Neighbours fans will be able to catch all the latest action on 10, with episodes also available to stream on Prime Video the following week. For fans in the US and UK can stream all the Ramsay Street drama for free on Amazon Freevee.
