Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness are making another push to part ways with their lavish New York City apartment – this time at a sharply reduced price – as both continue moving on from their high-profile split.

The former couple first listed the sprawling Manhattan residence in 2022 for a staggering US$38.9 million (around AUD$57.5 million). Now, the asking price has been slashed by roughly AUD$16 million, bringing it down to about US$28.75 million (AUD$41.5 million).

Set in the prestigious West Village, the five-bedroom, six-bathroom home occupies three levels – floors eight through ten – of a boutique high-rise. Spanning more than 1,000 square metres, the residence boasts sweeping outlooks across the Hudson River and the iconic Manhattan skyline.

Lavish in both scale and design, the top level is dedicated to a primary suite, complete with a private studio, spa-style bathroom, sauna and multiple dressing areas. The lower floors house large living and entertaining zones, including a library, guest quarters, a recreation room and a chef-grade kitchen framed by floor-to-ceiling windows.

But despite its luxury appeal, insiders say the property has become more of a burden than a prize.

“It’s true the market’s slow and this price drop is more realistic post-pandemic, but the fact is Hugh and Deb want it sold – and the sooner the better,” an inside source revealed to Woman’s Day.

“They’re both over it. The divorce, the house of broken dreams – and each other.”

Property records show the pair purchased the apartment back in 2008 for US$21.1 million. Following their divorce, finalised in June 2025 after nearly three decades of marriage, Deborra-lee retained ownership while Hugh moved into a separate home in nearby Chelsea.

According to insiders, the sale is about far more than real estate.

“For Hugh it’s the final hurdle in getting serious with Sutton [Foster]. He wants a new fresh start with no more entanglements with Deb and feels he owes that to both of them,” the source said, referring to Hugh’s new relationship.

“He knows Sutton’s holding out on setting a wedding date until he’s fully free. Deb has made her life hell and she wants him to be as far removed from her as possible. It’s a deal breaker for her.”

While Hugh and Sutton have gone public with their relationship following his split, reports suggest family dynamics remain delicate. The actor shares two adopted children with Deborra-lee, and sources claim they are still adjusting to the changes.

“Hugh and Deb will always play nice when the kids and cameras are around, but things are irreparable between them. She wants nothing to do with him anymore. They’re both done,” the insider added.

“They’ve never been more desperate to move on – and getting rid of this property, even if it costs them $10m, is the last obstacle.”
