Ellie and Daniëlle have been together for over a year, and first met when Daniëlle moved to Carpenter’s club in France, Olympique Lyonnais.

Rumours swirled in February 2022 that the pair were romantically linked, but the two of them didn’t confirm their relationship until a few months later.

Ellie and Daniëlle have been in a relationship for nearly two years.

Daniëlle plays for the Netherlands national team, and was in Australia for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, however she didn’t go up against her now-fiancee in Ellie Carpenter, as they didn’t play the Australian Matildas during the competition.

Ellie’s teammates and fellow Matildas players were quick to congratulate the happy couple, showering them with excited messages of support.

“Darlins 😍😍😍,” Caitlin Foord said, while Mackenzie Arnold simply put, “😍😍😍😍”.

“Let’s goooooo”, Matildas captain Sam Kerr wrote, “congrats guys xx”.

The news of the couple’s engagement comes just over a month after Sam Kerr announced her own engagement to her partner, Kristie Mewis.

Sam and Kristie first met in 2019 but didn’t go public with their relationship until 2021.

On 21st November 2023, the couple officially announced they were engaged after Sam popped the question on 1st September.

It seems wedding bells are ringing for the Matildas players!
