Turia Pitt has shared a recent health scare with fans, with the ultramarathon runner urging her followers to be vigilant with their health.

The 36-year-old posted a video to Instagram, telling her followers “the hardest part of any task is … starting. Like, starting the process of getting my tongue looked at.”

“I choose to keep having these surgeries like this because I believe life is all about continual improvement.”

“I had this little bump on it for years … and I put off getting it looked at for too long.”

While Turia did not share any further info on the nature of the growth, fans took to the comments to offer their support.

“I always put things off when it comes to my own health, but I always encourage others to look after themselves. We need to start on ourselves,” commented one fan.

” I had a bump cut off my tongue many years ago. I was a smoker, so I was really scared, but it turned out to be some kind of strange little benign tumour. I’m glad you got your[s] taken care of!,” wrote another.

The news comes just over two months since Pitt announced that she had undergone a “life-changing” nasal reconstruction surgery to assist her breathing.

“I’m currently recovering from a surgery where doctors reconstructed this bad boy,” she previously wrote on Instagram, adding, “I won’t go into too much detail because the gore factor is high, but basically the doctors took cartilage from my ear and used it to re-shape my nose. Amazing huh?!”

Pitt had previously undergone two nasal reconstructions, with her initial surgery in 2015 tragically causing the athlete to suffer a cardiac arrest.

Pitt underwent her third nasal reconstruction in April 2023.

“It’s frustrating because I spend most of my days teaching women how to run, and talking about running, and both of those things, talking and running, require breath,” she said previously.

“I choose to keep having these surgeries like this because I believe life is all about continual improvement and, whatever you do in life, you can’t improve without doing the work.”

Pitt has remained a consistent advocate for change and self-improvement, with the burns survivor launching her Run with Turia programme in 2021 to encourage mums to take the first step to start running.
