“It fully sank to the bottom”: Australian singer Tones and I’s shocking wedding revelation

While holidaying in tropical Bali, Australian singer Tones and I has wed her footballer partner Jimmy Bedford in a secret ceremony.

In a recent interview with Melbourne’s 101.9 The Fox, Tones revealed that her big day was not totally smooth sailing, with she and her friend coming close to drowning during her nuptials.

”My good friend Jack Mack, who can’t swim, was out on a kayak on the beach so I jumped in and went over to him and said, “Let’s just sit in the ocean in the kayak for a bit where no one can reach us,” she said.

”[I was] in my dress, and then the kayak started sinking – it fully sank to the bottom and lifeguards had to come and dive down and get the kayak and bring it back to shore.”

Despite the singer – real name Toni Watson – is a notoriously private person, she couldn’t wait to share the news on Instagram with her followers.

“Well we weren’t planning on spreading the news until after the single dropped but I MARRIED my best friend!,” she wrote.

In the announcement, Toni shared a collection of blurred retro themed photos of her friends and family having a wild night celebrating the special occasion.

Hundreds of fans flooded the comment section with love for the newlyweds. Even television personality, Sophie Monk wrote: “CONGRATULATIONS ANGELS”.

Major pop stars also shared their love including Macklemore, Hilltop Hoods, Lisa Veronica and Amy Shark.

It was only in mid-2021 when the identity of Toni’s secret boyfriend of 18 months was revealed to be Jimmy.

A few months later in January 2022, Toni revealed on the Kyle and Jackie O show how her partner popped the question with a beautiful studio recording just before 2021 Christmas.

“I got back from the pub … and [Jimmy] was like, ‘Oh come down to the studio I want to show you something’,” she said. “I thought he’s just like farted into the mic and put reverb on it or something.”

“So I press play and he’s like … ‘Hey … I love you’ and all that stuff we say to each other, and then I turned around… he was laughing because he was so nervous…

“And at the end, it said, ‘Will you marry me?’ and when I turned around he was on one knee, and on his right knee he had tattooed ‘Will you marry me?'”
