Shane Warne’s children reveal how they feel about cricket now after the loss of their dad

It was the sport that shaped Shane Warne’s life; cricket.

But nine months on from his passing, the game of cricket is causing pain to his three children.

Speaking to 7 News, Warne’s offspring has revealed that they struggle to watch the sport now that their dad is no longer with us.

‘When I’m listening to cricket it’s… that missing voice I can’t hear anymore,’ Shane’s 23-year-old son Jackson told 7 News.

Youngest daughter, 21-year-old Summer agreed with her brother, adding: ‘Cricket was his sport and it doesn’t feel right without him there.’

The three lost their dad on March 4 this year when he suffered a heart attack whilst holidaying in Thailand.

Known to be close with his children, it’s obvious that Shane’s passing has been an immense loss to Brooke (25), Jackson and Summer.

‘It’s probably been the hardest nine months of my life so far. I miss him every day,’ Summer said.

The siblings stood united to speak to 7 News off the back of Shane being elevated to ‘legend’ status in the Sport Australia Hall Of Fame, becoming just the fifth cricketer in history to be given the upgraded status.

The honour was bestowed on the late cricketer On Sunday – nine months to the day since he he passed at age 52.

Warne joined the Hall Of Fame in 2009 and became eligible for legend status this year – 15 years after his retirement from Test cricket.

Speaking about the ‘legend status’ honour, his eldest child Brooke told 7 News that it’s “awesome” it is now official.

But son Jackson just wished his dad was here to receive it himself. “This award would have meant a lot to him.”
