New pic of Eddie Redmayne and Prince William from their school days

17 year-old Eddie Redmayne is just as cheeky and charming as 33 year-old Eddie Redmayne.

Redmayne is especially cheeky as he grins impishly at the camera, and judging by how he looks at 17, the 33 year-old The Theory of Everything actor clearly hasn’t aged a day.

Redmayne, who scooped the best actor gong at the Baftas this week for his role as physicist Stephen Hawking, has spoken previously about his school days with Prince William. They were in the same year.

“We were on the same rugby team at Eton College,” Eddie, 33, told Glamour magazine in a recent interview. “He’s a wonderful man.”

“I always felt slightly sorry for him because everyone wanted to tackle the future king of England. He took all the hits.”

Redmayne is currently the man of the hour, beating off stiff competition from Ralph Fiennes, Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Keaton and Benedict Cumberbatch to win the Bafta for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking.

He also won the hearts of everybody in attendance with his humble and hilarious acceptance speech, in he which he managed to turn a story about a terrible bout of food poisoning at the last Baftas ceremony into a charming anecdote.

“I was lucky enough to come to the BAFTAs a year or three ago when I was suffering from a severe bout of food poisoning and just as Stephen Fry came on to start announcing the awards I had to bolt through that door there and I proceeded to redecorate the corridor of the Royal Opera House in an incredibly unfortunate fashion.

“It was one of the worst nights of my life, this is one of the best nights of my life,” he said.

Redmayne, who married his love Hannah Bagshaw in December last year, has already won a Golden Globe and a SAG award, dedicated his award to his own family, his family on screen and the Hawkings family, for allowing the film to be made.

Here’s to the Oscars ceremony, may Eddie Redmayne and his blaze of freckles and velvet blazers reign.
