Julie Bishop is right there with the rest of us as we watch the United States transition into a new chapter with Joe Biden as president.

And like us, Julie has hope that things will look up as Biden settles into the role – her latest Instagram update was the perfect way to sum it up.

Sharing a picture snapped almost five years ago, Julie’s throwback featured herself and Joe Biden when they met in 2016.

“Congratulations and best wishes to 46th US President Joe Biden – a great and trusted friend of Australia 🇺🇸🇦🇺,” she wrote alongside the picture of the pair, who are sharing a laugh together in the candid moment.

Julie shared this striking image to her Instagram account this week as Joe Biden was inaugurated as the 46th president of the United States.

Julie’s fans took to the comments to also show their support.

“Two icons!” One wrote.

“What a wonderful image!” Another mused.

Many also called for Julie herself to get back into politics. The former foreign minister announced her retirement back in 2019, and has since continued her efforts in public services, though in less formal positions.

“Great picture… you should have been Prime Minister!!!” A fan noted.

“Julie for PM,” another commented.

Julie isn’t the only Australian celebrating Biden’s presidency.

Earlier this month, Lisa Wilkinson also voiced her concern over Trump’s leadership in the wake of the Capitol Hill riots.

“The fact that he refuses allow this peaceful transfer of power, in my mind makes him a criminal,” Lisa said on the show’s panel.

“All of those people who have allowed this to happen, it was always going to end like this. Even still, it is so awful to watch this great western democracy just completely collapse.”

Lisa shared her disgust in Trump’s leadership on The Project.

While Biden has only been in the Whitehouse for a day, already, things are moving forwards.

Promptly signing 15 executive orders and proclamations, which included rejoining the Paris climate accord and the global pact to reduce carbon emissions, Biden is straight to business.

Here’s looking to a brighter future for the country – we, like Julie and Lisa, will be watching with intrigue.
