Jamie Durie is the guy you listen to when you need to re-do the patio or when you’re wondering whether a Bougainvillea is right for your garden, but is he the go-to-guy when you need a new moisturiser? Apparently so.

The 42-year-old has just added an organic skin care range to his business empire because with hosting television shows, writing nine books and not only founding but directing his company, Durie Design isn’t keeping him busy enough.

While a jump from the backyard to the beauty industry seems a little far-fetched, Jamie’s passion for the range certainly isn’t lacking.

The ultimate DIY guy turned domestic goddess welcomed half of Sydney’s beauty industry into his multi-story Palm Beach home last Tuesday for the launch of the skincare range, ‘People for Plants’.

Beauty editors sipped on organic juices over lunch in the living room, Jamie and his two friends who co-founded the plant-based range talked aloe vera, jojoba and all things flora.

As a horticulturist, Jamie isn’t foreign to plant talk and as a business man, Jamie knows how to sell a product but he insists he doesn’t need to do the latter.

“We’re not here to sell the product to you. The product sells itself. We want you to be the judge”, he said.

The range, which has passed the tests of Australian Certified Organics, will face it’s biggest test when it hits Australian shelves this year.

So for $30 you can decide whether Jamie should have stuck to fixing our homes and left our faces alone.
