Everybody has a childhood regret or two, but not all of us have the chance to apologise for them on live TV.
Reese Witherspoon and the cast of Saturday Night Live opened their special Mother’s Day show by bringing all their mum’s onstage to apologise for their bratty moments in their formative years.
“Mothers are the best and now that I’m a mother myself I finally understand what my mum went through with me,” Reese began before adding: “I was a full on nightmare from ages five through 37.”
“Our real mothers are here and we are going to bring them out and apologise for real, terrible things we did to them,” the Oscar winner quipped.
Among the hilarious confessions were SNLcast member’s Sasheer Zamata, who told her mum: “I’m sorry that in second grade I slapped a girl across the face and broke her glasses and you had to buy her new ones.”
Reese waited until the end to introduce her mum, “please welcome the love of my life, my mother Betty.”
“I’m really sorry that that one time in high school I told you that I was going to sleep over at Ashely’s house but instead I checked into a hotel with my boyfriend, but then I felt so guilty I left and went back to Ashely’s house… do you forgive me,” the 39-year-old admitted to her gorgeous mother.
Despite the bold confession, Betty responded with a smile: Of course sweetheart.”
Before adding, “and now me and the other mums have something we want to apologise for, we’re sorry we’re about to show a bunch of home video about you kids.”
The audience were then treated to some side-splitting clips of Reese and the cast of SNL as children.
It was pretty clear that these funny adults were also hilarious kids!
