David Campbell is a man with many talents. He’s a much-loved presenter on Today Extra, a successful singer, performer and actor.
While all the accolades that have come with his career have no doubt brought him joy, it’s clear that his wife Lisa Hewitt, who he married in 2008, is his reason for everything.
Their union wasn’t one David saw coming. He was single and feeling like he’d never find ‘the one’ as his friends had done.
Then, one fateful day more than 15 years ago, a woman named Lisa walked into his dressing room for some pre-show drinks at the Melbourne Theatre Company.
In an interview with 9Honey, David revealed that their first interaction was over beers during his typical Thursday dressing-room drinks.
He asked Lisa if she would like, “Becks or Heineken?”
She had asked for a Becks, and at that moment, he knew that his world would never be the same.
“She just – she brightened my world that time. And so that was it,” he told the publication. “The first impression was charming and disarming.”
Lisa was in the country for a few weeks to tour a show. In order to spend as much time together as possible, David followed her to Brisbane.
Unfortunately, their whirlwind romance had to end when Lisa returned to England. On a whim, David called her to reveal his wish to pursue their love. In the end, Lisa moved to Australia to spend her life with a man she’d only known for a few weeks, and it was clearly a risk that paid off.
After tying the knot in 2008, the couple welcomed their first son, Leo, in 2010, and five years later their twins, Betty and Billy, were born.
They also turned their relationship into a business partnership when they started their production company, Luckiest Productions.
David’s devotion to his wife and family will make you believe in forever, and this gallery of their sweetest moments may even bring a tear to your eyes.

To celebrate her husband’s 47th birthday, Lisa wrote this heartfelt message.
“Happy birthday @davidcampbell73! 47! Thank you for being generous, kind, thoughtful, principled, motivated, interesting, supportive and most of all for making our lives so much fun. You get better by the year and we are so lucky to be by your side. I love you with all my heart.”
To ring in 10 years together, Lisa made sure to pay her hubby out for his smoke alarm gaff, before sharing her sweet testament.
“We’ve been married 10 years today. To celebrate we had an argument about the batteries for a smoke alarm. That’s traditional right? 1 year – paper, 10 years -smoke alarm.
“I can’t wait to be next to you for the rest of my life,” she wrote. “You’re the best thing that ever happened to me. Sorry about being a dick over the smoke alarm,” she wrote.
During an exclusive chat with Now To Love, David revealed special insight into their whirlwind love affair when they first met.
“The night before she left, I think I verbalised it. We were very deep in our cups, having a wonderful night, being emotional, and I said, ‘Boy, I would love for my children to see your face as a mother’,” he reflected before joking, “That should be a bit of a red flag.”
When asked how he got so lucky, he earnestly replied, “I don’t know. I’m really insecure, so I don’t think I deserve it at the same time. I don’t know how I got so lucky, but I am and I ain’t letting go. She should have listened three weeks in. It was a red flag.”
After David gave his TV WEEK Logies red carpet hosting duties his everything, he finally reunited with his loving wife Lisa, and she commemorated the moment by posting this adorable selfie. She captioned the shot, “Me and DC. Reunited. In front of the fish sauce.”
The couple jetted to Thailand for a family holiday in July 2022 but made sure to take some time out for themselves between running after their three kids.
