Oh Saint Valentine, what have you started?

Unless you’ve been wearing a pair of very expensive noise-cancelling headphones whilst indulging in the deepest of slumbers, you’ll be very well aware that today is Valentine’s Day.

Yep, it’s hard to ignore the bright red heart-shaped garnishes in every shop window, or the florists literally bursting at the seams with frantic rose-searching partners, and let’s not forget the throngs of loved-up couples filling virtually every restaurant in the city.

But there’s another rather common place we’re seeing Saint Valentine make his mark: social media. And boy is it a roller coaster of sop, cringe and, at times, actually-kinda-cute tributes.

As February 14 rolled around, some of our favourite celebrity couples have taken to Instagram to mark the special day.

As we’ve come to expect, some of the flowing ode’s are a little corny, but some, we must say, are actually pretty clever.

From Larry Emdur’s hilarious fruit gaffe to Osher’s heartfelt throwback, these celebrity odes are worth the scroll. Take a good old gander below.

Lisa Wilkinson

Lisa Wilkinson got real on Instagram, sharing the realities of February 14 in the 29 years she’s spent with her husband Peter FitzSimons: “Twenty nine Valentine’s Days together, and we’ve only ever celebrated one. The first one. Because, you know, young love… After that, reality sets in….work, kids, mortgage repayments, school drop-offs, misunderstandings, missed garbage nights, empty toilet roll-holders, wet towels on the bathroom floor, parenting, parental loss, the odd harsh word, disappointments, disagreements, and teenage hormones (theirs not ours), can all take over. Because, you know, life. And marriage.”

The 60-year-old then imparted some wisdom for her following: “So to all the young lovers out there just beginning all this, if you really think you’ve found your soulmate, hold on if you possibly can for the stuff that truly matters. Because: cups of tea, laughter, fierce loyalty, deep love, forgiveness, shared tears, the unspeakable joy of watching your kids grow, and the wrinkles (or as I like to think of them, the songlines of life) that come from living a REAL life together, are so worth it.”
