“Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are delighted to announce the arrival of their beautiful son,” the actor’s rep confirmed in a statement to People.
“We would kindly ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during these next few precious weeks.”
It has been a busy few months for Benedict and Sophie, with the pair tying the knot this Valentine’s Day in Mottistone, located on the Isle of Wight in England.
The happy couple announced they were expecting in January.
“I am delighted to confirm that Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are expecting their first child. They are both over the moon.” A spokesperson for Benedict revealed.
This is both Benedict and Sophie’s first child, and the Imitation Game actor couldn’t be happier.
“I was happy as an only child, but I’ve always wanted to be part of a bigger family. I would love to have children.” Benedict admitted to Event magazine back in 2013.
Adding, “I can’t wait to do an interview like this and just talk about my child.”
He also revealed to the Telegraph UK in 2010, “I am very broody. I have been broody for the last five years because I have two godchildren. “
