Easily the best moment of the Oscars 2018, was Frances McDormand’s stirring speech.
One reference that had people puzzled was at the conclusion of France’s speech.
The Oscar winner said: “I have two words for you: Inclusion rider.”
But what is that?
What is an inclusion rider and why do we need to know about it?
People were in a rush to Google the baffling term, though during the reign of movements like Time’s Up and Oscars So White we can all make an educated guess.
Luckily comedian and creator of Two Broke Girls, Whitney Cummings, confirmed everything you thought when she explained.
“An inclusion rider is something actors put into their contracts to ensure gender and racial equality in hiring on movie sets,” she tweeted after Frances’ speech.
“We should support this for a billion reasons, but if you can’t find a reason to, here’s one: it will make movies better.”
