The Veronicas help mum through mystery illness

Lisa and Jess Origliasso (AKA The Veronicas) have flown home to Brisbane from Los Angeles to care for their sick mother, Colleen, who has been battling a mystery illness in hospital.

Jess’ girlfriend, Ruby Rose, also flew home from the US with the twins to support the family during this troubling time. Jess posted a sweet photo to Instagram of Colleen and Ruby over the weekend: “Loves of my life,” the On Your Side singer captioned. “Ruby in a butterfly headband, gifting carebear slippers to my pixie mama in matching flannel is my favourite thing about today.”

It was revealed in November while Jess was on the Matt & Meshel radio show that her mum was unwell. Referring to Ruby, who Jess has been dating since last year, she said, “Our mum’s been sick and she’s always been an amazing support system in our life and our family’s life.”

The Orange is the New Black star has been supporting the twins and their mother since the undiagnosed illness first came to light. She even flew Colleen first class to New Zealand last year as a surprise for the singers.

In January, Lisa wrote an emotional message for Colleen’s birthday, sharing her mum’s strength. “You have been a tower of love and strength to Jessie and I our entire lives … We owe the biggest part of the women we are today, to you … You have made our world a far more colourful, extraordinary, fun, crazy, loving and cool place to be. Without you, there is no us. It will always be the three of us forever and ever.”
