For Sunrise weather presenter Sam Mac, his newly changed relationship status had made self-isolation a whole lot more bearable.
Chatting to Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa, on Wednesday March 22nd, the TV personality shared a glimpse into how these unprecedented times has affected his day-to-day life.
Sam admitted that it was “strange” for his roving weather presenter job to become virtual and for him to remain stationary when normally he’d constantly be on the road, but spending time with new girlfriend Elle Whittaker has been a bonus.
“It’s so strange because my job is travel, it’s meeting people. That’s what we do, 90% of my job is having that contact with people. But I find that I’m having to do FaceTime, Zoom, it’s really challenging but I’m really enjoying it,” he said.
“There’s definitely positives to it. I mean I’ve got a new girlfriend now so I’ve had time to actually spend with her.”
Sam and Elle have been self-isolating together, which the Sunrise presenter admitted was “intense”.

“We’ve only really been official since just before isolation, I got her at the pre-isolation sale! I got her just before it all happened,” he laughed.
While Sam admitted it was a “bit intense” to be self-isolating together as a couple despite the short amount of time they had been dating, he described it as “so far, so good”.
The former TV WEEK Gold Logie nominee added: “On the weekend she basically renovated my terrace. She said we’re going to turn this into an outdoor space where you can have a wine, you can work from home. It’s amazing!”

Sam debuted his romance with stunning blonde Qantas communications adviser Elle in mid-March, gushing about their relationship live on air on Sunrise.
Hours later he shared a sweet selfie of the pair on Instagram with an equally sweet caption.
“Life news: I have a Girlfriend 😎 This is Elle. She’s from The Coast. She rides a Motorbike. & she loves Sharks. I ride a pogo stick & I love cats, so we’re perfect together 😳” Sam wrote.
“I think she’s pretty special….in fact, I’m as into her as much as the lady in the background is into that hot chip 🔥 Be nice to Elle everyone.”
In March, Sam announced his new relationship with Elle on Instagram and on-air.
