Married At First Sight groom Mikey Pembroke has opened up for the very first time about his family’s hidden heartbreak, commemorating the memory of his late sister Kate, who died as a child.
Until now, Mikey and his family had chosen to privately mourn their loss, but today the operations manager used a special milestone to celebrate his sister’s short life.
On Tuesday, Mikey posted two beautiful photos of his younger sister as a baby, marking what would have been her 28th birthday.
“My baby sister Kate would have been 28 today,” Mikey wrote alongside his touching photo tribute.
“We have never posted a photo of her but during these weird times I thought it would be appropriate to recognise and celebrate her 28th birthday.”
He added: “If angels exist she definitely is one! I have her initials on me forever. Happy Birthday to you darling girl”.

“Tough day bud. Look up at the sky blow her a kiss & tell her you love her. She is not far I promise x,” one fan commented.
Another wrote: “She sure was a beautiful baby … such a loss is hard to bear. Happy heavenly birthday Kate. May you continue to look after your loved ones. You’ll be reunited one day.”
Mikey’s ex Natasha put the former couple’s differences to one side and wrote a touching tribute to her co-star.
“This is lovely Mikey. Thinking of you and your family today,” Natasha penned, while fellow bride Tash also commented on the post, with three love heart emojis.
Mikey was one of the most controversial contestants on MAFS this season.

The pair made things Instagram offical in March and are currently isolating together in Sydney.
Last month Mikey shared a sweet selfie of the couple cuddled up, with the caption: “My girl!”

The photo was flooded with congratulatory comments from his MAFS co-stars.
“Best pic I’ve seen all day,” MAFS bride KC posted, while fellow contestant Tash commented “Stop it”, followed by a series of heart-eye emojis.
It appears the couple have been dating for some time – Kelly shared a photo of herself and Mikey holidaying in Italy in January.
