Now To Love exclusively chatted to Australia’s favourite couple Grant & Chezzi Denyer.

The duo, who are the proud parents to six-year-old Sailor and baby Scout, who is on the cusp of two, are doing their bit to help other parents with their little ones in their roles as ambassadors for Jeans for Genes Day.

Can you tell us a bit about your role with Jeans for Genes day – you’re a genie?

C: We were both asked to help raise awareness and it makes me so happy to be able to do my bit to help support them. I’ve had friends who’ve had premature babies – and I love the fact the Children’s Medical Research Institute established Australia’s first research unit for newborns, which dramatically increased survival rates for premature babies.

Both Grant and I have friends who’ve been affected and the work they’re doing is so needed. I feel like everybody knows someone who’s suffered from a terrible illness – Grant and I couldn’t be happier to do our bit to help out.

G: I didn’t realise how staggering the statistics are – 1 in 20 Aussie kids are affected by disease. That’s astonishing. The charity has been working since 1958, which is so epic! And if I can pop on a pair of jeans and help then of course I will!

What made you want to get involved with the charity and what are you hoping to achieve?

G: No one ever wants to see sick kids. Whether it was with Family Feud or when I was a weatherman on Sunrise, I’ve been bouncing in and out of children’s wards in hospitals all over the country for nearly 20 years.

They’re full of hope and optimism but there’s also full of really tragic and sad stories.

So if we can reduce the tragic and sad stories and increase the hope and optimism – well jeans for genes is a win win!

How’s the family going, how’s Scout and Sailor?

G: They’re baby outlaws! [Laughs]

They’re really good! Sailor’s now six and Scout is nearly two and they’re the most unreal kids you could ever hope for. They take after their mum! Actually, I think they’ve got the best of both us.

Do the siblings just adore each other?

C: Sailor loves being a big sister. She loves giving squeezes to little Scout but Scout’s a little punk and she doesn’t really like hugs that much unless they’re on her terms.

She does like hugging the dog!

G: They both lick each other’s faces!

Chezzi can you tell me more about Mummy Time

C: When I first started my blog, I had all these stories and wanting to get them out there. And Mummy Time TV is an extension of that. I’ve been thinking about it for six years. Being a mum can be really scary – so this a real outlet for mums!

G: I’m really excited about it. I think it will be really good to normalise all the things that can be crap about parenting and all the good stuff as well!

Do you guys have any fun activities or vacations planned?

G: it’s been a big year for us! Family Feud hit the 900th episode. My accident took me a couple of months to recover but I’m back!

Chezzi has been great – hopefully we’ll get away at the end of the year!
