And he has the full support of his loving wife Cheryl Denyer, who told us exclusively on the red carpet that the Family Feud host is slowly recovering.

“The nurses are great. He was on crutches last week, so it’s been a real difficult fast track with physio and the kids wouldn’t get off him – and the puppy!”

“I said to him you’ve being loving recovering at home, you get all this attention. Lots of girl attention,” she laughed.

Last month, the father-of-two had a terrifying brush with death when he and his co-driver Dale Moscatt were involved in a collision with a tree during the Lake Mountain Sprint for the Australian Rally Championships in Marysville, Victoria.

Ending up with several broken bones including a busted sacrum, the 39-year-old joked it was set to be a long night ahead of him.

As for whether Cheryl thinks he’ll take home to top gong, the mother-of-two was more concerned about Grant staying in one piece during the event.

“You know what, I just want to see how Grant survives the night and to be honest this is party enough for us,” Cheryl said.

“Last year we didn’t really enjoy it because it was the first time he was nominated, but this year I guess with accident four weeks ago, it was four weeks ago today, it’s been pretty hectic. But just really thankful and grateful that he is here.”

“If he wins gold I probably won’t want to go anywhere because the tears that are going to come from my eyes will just keep flowing.”

“I feel like we’ve had, it has just been such a bumpy year so far. I said to Grant, it would be really nice to out another one next to it [existing logie] then they [the girls] can have one each.”
