In case you’ve missed the ready-to-pop instagram posts, Tori Spelling is expecting a child with her handsome hubby Dean McDermott.
And despite it being the couple’s fifth little bundle of joy, her mum Candy Spelling has spared no expense in throwing THE baby shower to end all baby showers.
According to the Daily Mail, The Bel Air Hotel, a Los Angeles hotspot, was the scene for the more than 50 invited guests’ luncheon.
Speaking with the publication a source revealed, “This was easily a $40,000 event.”
“A diet soda there can set you back $10, so can you imagine the cost of renting out their main restaurant for four hours on Grammy weekend for a party?”
If you choose to do the math, that’s (at least) a whopping $800 per head…
Candy and Tori have had a famously tumultuous mother-daughter relationship.
Unsurprisingly, the epic event was planned by Hollywood’s go-to party planner, Mindy Weiss, who has planned the weddings of mega stars like Fergie and Josh Duhamel, Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden.
Celebrating the baby-boy-to-be, a sea of blue balloons filled the ceiling of the restaurant while building blocks spelled out ‘Baby McDermott’ atop the venue’s fireplace.
Guests at the extravagant event even sipped on blue-hued lemonade, that came festively wrapped in decorative nappies.
But for Candy, the pièce de résistance were the toy choo-choo trains that wound their way up and down the guest tables, intertwined with stunning floral arrangements in the brightest of colours.
The reality TV star was accompanied at the five star event by all four of her children, Liam, 9, Stella, 8, Hattie, 5, and Finn, 4.
The 43-year-old revealed that she and her husband were expecting their fifth child together in an interview with People magazine.
And apparently baby number five wasn’t at all part of their plan.
“It was a total surprise,” Tori confessed to the publication. “But we always wanted a big family. I’m really excited.”
“Dean was saying, ‘We just got Finn out of diapers; I thought we were in the clear,'” the actress confessed.
“For the first time this year, they’re all in school. So it’s like, wow. We’re basically starting over.”
“This baby happened at the best time.”
The couple have had a rollercoaster of a relationship.
She continued: “Nothing is ever perfect, but I’m so madly in love with my husband and with our kids. The idea of adding to that is such a blessing.”
The pair have gone through ups and downs in their relationship, with Dean famously having an affair in the middle of their reality TV show.
But this new baby announcement seems to prove that the couple are stronger than ever!
