Nicky Buckley caused quite the stir in 1997 with a figure-hugging gown while pregnant on Sale of the Century – and she’s still turning heads!
That groundbreaking television made Nicky – inadvertently – a role model for women across Australia, encouraging them to love and celebrate their bodies.
“I wasn’t trying to make a statement; there were simply no maternity options for a job where I was on TV five nights a week,” she says.
“We made a decision to go for fitted and stretchy fabrics – I was happy with my body and didn’t care what others were saying.”
Nicky, married to Murray Bingham, 53, believes fashion can empower you: “Find what makes you feel good. If you put it on and don’t like it, throw it out!”

Confident Nicky stays active to counteract her insatiable sweet-tooth.
“I try to be healthy and enjoy a fresh juice or smoothie every day, but I like to finish the day with a chocolate – Milkybar Cookies & Cream is my favourite – or a good old Milo.”
And what about her complexion! “Growing up I had cystic acne.
I recently came across Rodan + Fields and fell in love with it, so much I’m now selling it,” she says.
Now mum to Cooper, 20, Jasper, 19, and Baxter, 15, Nicky also stays busy as an MC.
“You have the privilege of introducing and listening to intelligent speakers. I feel like I’m constantly learning and growing and love the variety,” she says.
