Macbeth is Shakespeare’s most gory masterpieces, layered with deceit, treachery and the most bloody of endings, so anybody taking on a Hollywood version have their work cut out for them.
It’s been adapted for the screen numerous times, but the latest version of Macbeth is set to be the most captivating yet.
The trailer sets the incredibly dark scene, filmed in the Scottish highlands where the historic play is actually set.
Micheal Fassbender and Marion Cotillard take on the iconic roles of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth respectively, who end up with blood on their hands in the quest for power.
A release date for the UK has been set for October second, however the rest of the world is still awaiting confirmation.
Notably, a date for the film to be released in the US is undetermined, probably so it falls within the time frame to be considered as an Oscar’s hopeful – and we think it’s in with a pretty good chance!
