King Charles III coronation is the event of the decade. Scratch that, it’s the biggest royal event of the past 100 years, only equally matched by the July 1953 coronation of Queen Elizabeth II 70 years ago.
On May 6, 2023, a new monarch will take the crown, something Charles has been waiting 74 years to fulfil his duties.
Charles has been waiting almost 80 years to take the throne.
(Image: Getty)For royal watchers in Australia that are keen to tune in to the proceedings from home on May 6th, the ABC has released its official programming schedule for what they’ve officially titled: The Coronation of King Charles III.
”Witness history unfold live as centuries of tradition and pageantry play out in London for the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla,” a statement from the public broadcaster read.
Despite the official proceedings before slimmed down to a mere two hours, the live broadcast will run for more than five and a half hours from 5:00pm AEST until sometime after 11:00pm.
This soon to be King is counting down the days until May 6th!

Charles III has been heir to the throne for over 70 years.

Roughly 2,000 chosen guests will be in attendance at Wesminster Abbey to watch the official proceedings.
A group of working royals that include Charles (obviously), the newly titled Queen Camilla, William, Kate and their three children – George, Charlotte and Louis – alongside Prince Edward and his wife Sophie (the new Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh) alongside Princess Anne and her husband Admiral Sir Tim Laurence will also be making an appearance together for the iconic Buckingham Palace balcony photo.
