In a chaotic year of ups and mostly downs, the surprise wedding of Princess Beatrice of York and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi was a shining moment.

The Princess was originally due to wed her fiance Edoardo on May 29, however the couple were forced to scrap their plans as the COVID-19 pandemic swept the globe.

Instead, the couple secretly tied the knot in stunning fashion with a small ceremony at Windsor Castle attended by less than 20 guests on Friday, July 17.

Wearing a vintage Norman Hartnell design, on loan from her grandmother The Queen who wore it herself back in 1967 for the State Opening of Parliament, the first photos of Beatrice, and of course Edo, had royals fans enamoured.

Bea and Edo stunned fans with their surprise nuptials.

A fan has taken to Instagram to share a token of thanks from the proud mother-of-the-bride, Sarah Ferguson, which included the photo and a note.

The photo which shows Edo and Beatrice looking adoringly at one another, reads: “Thank you so much for your amazingly caring and supportive messages for Beatrice and Edo’s future happiness.”

“It was a glorious day; the sun smiled down on them. We were all delighted to be able to come together and celebrate their love for one another. Beatrice looked stunning and Edo handsome – their love shone through.

“We are so happy to welcome Edo into our family and thank him for his love and devotion to Beatrice.

“Thank you for many years of kindness and loyalty.”

Buckingham Palace confirmed at the time The Queen, Prince Philip, and Beatrice’s mother Sarah Ferguson and father Prince Andrew, as well as her sister Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank were all in attendance on the day.

Edo’s four-year-old son Wolfie held the role as best man, and going by the pictures, the quiet affair couldn’t have been any more special.
